EXCLUSIVE: Ahmed Khan ADMITS Akshay Kumar uses teleprompter; says, “Many actors remember dialogues but…”

Akshay Kumar has been criticised for using a teleprompter instead of memorising his lines. Director Ahmed Khan agreed to it but defended the actor’s method. Director and choreographer Ahmed Khan, in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, admitted that Akshay Kumar does not memorise his lines. The actor was recently labelled ‘teleprompter actor’ after a social media user pointed out that he seemed to be reading lines from a teleprompter in Sarfira, rather than memorising it.

Talking about the criticism Akshay Kumar faces for using a teleprompter, Ahmed Khan said, “Many actors do this. Everyone has their own method. What Akshay does is also a talent. He does so many things physically. While many actors can remember dialogues but do not give much from their side physically, Akshay tries to give a lot of things from his side to the film. He adds dialogues like ‘Behen dar gayi’, ‘Chal-Chal Baap ko mat sikha’.Ye sab Akshay Kumar dalta hai. Akshay says, ‘I am giving so much, I am not in school that I will memorize the dialogues.’ That is why he reads and speaks but as an actor, he also adds interesting things from his side in the film”.

Ahmed Khan on Akshay Kumar being a prankster

During the same chat, Ahmed Khan spoke about the prankster on set Akshay Kumar, “Arey baap re, he’s not changed I know him since 33 years im saying, he’s the same, he’s the same. Picture me na Rajpal Yadav ko humne wig diya hai woh Sachin Tendulkar jaise aur lamba hai toh mai bol raha hu, chalo yaar sabka ho gaya, toh mereko baar baar puch raha hai, Rajpal ka packup ho gaya? Toh maine bola Rajpal ka packup ho gaya, toh gaane ka shot hai, sab dance kar rahe hai sab dance kar rahe hai, ab mereko pata hai ki Rajpal ka packup ho gaya hai toh uske baal dikhte hai, dance karte karte Rajpal kaise aa gaya beech me, Akshay ne Rajpal ka wig pehen li.“

He further added, “Mai shot le raha hu aur socha Rajpal kaha se beech me aa gaya, aur woh wig na uski choti peeche hai, he turned it and choti aage ho gayi. Aur sab dekh rahe hai ki Rajpal kaha se aa gaya, heroin’s ke paas jaake nach raha tha, I yelled cut cut 700-800 dancers, Akki what are you doing, ab aisa prank koi karta hai? Itne log ke beech me, but why he did that, I understand because we’re so tired gaana ho raha hai dance kar rahe hai, toh ek thoda fatigue tha, toh usne yeh laya na aur joh mood bana gaya na set pe, kyuki hero aisa kar raha hai na.”
